Meet the Team Behind School of Mathematic Excellence

We're a small, specialist team that focuses solely on maths. One subject, done properly.

Hi, I'm Alice, founder of School of Mathematic Excellence.

Since launching in 2022, we’ve grown into a small but perfectly formed team of senior qualified teachers and current or former GCSE and A Level examiners. Every one of us is experienced, passionate, and most importantly, VERY sound (if I do say so myself). We're all about building genuine connections with students while delivering top tier support. We have heart, we have personality, and we're exemplary educators.

By putting 100% of our focus into one subject it means we know the curriculum inside out, we know exactly what examiners are looking for - because we are the examiners - and we know how to get the very best out of every student.

We support children from state, private and grammar school backgrounds, and are also proud to have developed what we believe is one of the strongest home education maths programmes in the UK.

Our pass rates consistently surpass the national average, and for two exam seasons running, 100% of our home educated students have achieved a Grade 4 or above in their GCSE maths – well above the national average of 59%. Many of our students go on to achieve Grades 7-9, with some progressing confidently to A level maths and applying to Oxbridge.

We carefully recruit only the most exemplary tutors to make sure every student gets the best support possible.

Quality over quantity is really important to us. That’s why we keep our class sizes small and limit the number of spaces each year and because of this, our programmes have sold out every single year since we began.

Whether your child needs long-term support, a confidence boost, or help preparing for an important exam, we’re here to help them succeed. With a variety of support options tailored to different goals and budgets, we’re proud to offer some of the most affordable group classes around because we believe quality tuition should be accessible to as many families as possible.

Our goal is simple: to make every student feel capable, confident, and yes, enjoy maths.

All our tutors are rated 5 stars by former families.

We don’t recruit often at the School of Mathematic Excellence, but when we do, it’s only exceptional individuals with strong pedagogy, impressive track records, and exceptional experience beyond the classroom. Not only that, we are all genuinely sound and trustworthy individuals, committed to building positive relationships with our students in a warm, fun and supportive environment.

  • Former Head of Year 11 & 2nd in Department for Mathematics

9 years teaching experience and 1st Class Honours degree

Approved IGCSE/GCSE examiner, and most recently an examiner for IGCSE Higher. Alice brings deep insight into what examiners are really looking for.

Specialism in helping home educated students achieve a Grade 4 pass and beyond in GCSE maths. Alice’s cohorts pass rates have been 85%, 100% and 100% the past 3 exam seasons whilst the national average is just 59%.

Deeply committed to high quality maths teaching and learning across the business, investing heavily in shared resources to support the whole team.

She's also known for her wonky attempts at quoting memes and forcing pop culture references into lessons (“It's giving Pythagoras”, apparently).  Blending high standards with humour to keep lessons human, light, and actually fun.

Fun fact - she is a former client of ours! Two of her children have come through S.o.M.E. for their GCSEs with staggering levels of progress. Her eldest achieved 230/240 in their final GCSE exam, and the youngest went from achieving 3’s and 4’s to targeting 7/8 in Y11! She knows our programmes and ethos inside out thanks to personal experience.
